A few years back I did a children's activity book for SCAPCA (Spokane County Air Pollution Control Authority) called Earth: A Place to Call Home. A very fun project to work on.
If this alien character looks familiar, he is the silhouette up in the header of this site. I thought that he fitted the concept of an alien coming to Earth and learning about air for the first time. It was for this project that I decided to name him Ed, after Ed Clark from The Clark Company, the Principal of the ad agency that worked with me on this project (I designed and still maintain their site, too).
There was definitely a groove to be gotten into on this project and looking back I think that there are some drawings that are definitely stronger than others, but hey! live and learn, eh? The above is my favorite.
The activity book was laid out in Quark Xpress—a program that I don't use anymore. The drawings were done in Illustrator. The shaded ones were taken from Illustrator and completed in PhotoShop.
